The morning lights of Hong Kong hide some of the most ancient and sacred wonders in the world.

Well beyond the Tai Chi exercises in Victoria park at dawn, trains and taxis will sweep you away from central Hong Kong.

The entrance to the Man Mo Miu Temple. To arrive visitors must walk steeply sloped streets from the subway station at Sheung Wan.

Approaching the sacred alter within the Temple. Man Mo Miu is the oldest Taoist temple in the world.

A closer look at the altar. In the temple are two gods: God of Culture and God of Power.

Here are sacred Dharani. These contain a mantra - one that does not need to be read aloud. They are blessed by the high priest at Man Mo Miu and, it is said, the bearer is protected by the "sky-people."
